I’ve been playing FPS (First Person Shooters) for awhile now – I can cast my mind back to the days of the Original FPS- Duke Nuk’em (The chainsaw was awesome!) and more recently FarCry Instincts. I’ve been waiting with eager anticipation for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to hit the shelves ever since I saw the launch in Japan at the Tokyo Game Show. I can quite safely say along with many other gamers that it has lived up to the billing.
$310 Million dollars in 24 hours. That’s the time it took for Call of Duty – Modern Warfare 2 to break the single day sales record for entertainment in North America and England.
I made a contribution to that sales record in Asia on Saturday when I purchased my XBOX 360 copy for $82 SGD at Funan IT Mall.
Having spent a solid 2 hours immersed in the campaign I was thoroughly exhausted from the entire digital experience. In short, it was awesome. With the lights off and my stereo set to blast – I blasted holes in the enemy, Sped down snow covered mountains, shot my way out of an urban South American death trap. And that’s just Act 1. The gameplay, graphics, sound, speed of action is immaculate and as real as I would imagine it to be!
If you have a short attention span like I do you will enjoy the varied campaigns and realism of the story. You are basically thrown into the deep end and the action begins as soon as you pick up the controller. The only reason to put it down is from sensory overload !! WOW. The choice of hi-tech weaponry available to you is almost unlimited ranging from rocket launchers, to Uzis, to Hand Guns and mini-guns.
Verdict – BUY IT!
