Mobile Wars – Apple vs Google

Apple opened sales of iPhone 4s of 1.7 million in three days, now that’s pretty impressive apart from the fact that there weren’t enough units to satisfy demand. Personally I think it was a rushed product launch on what is fast becoming a faulty, buggy device. Sales = Marketing.

Google Android now reports 160,000 new devices running on Google’s Android software are going into service every day. There are currently 60 Android devices available today delivered by 21 manufacturers and 59 wireless carriers across 49 countries.

The war of Apple vs Open Source is on. Analysts however are saying that Googles Android will soon take over that of Apple by year’s end. Given the fact that there are so many glitches in the iPhone 4 antenna and melting screen I’m not surprised.

Stay Tuned for the war of mobile worlds. Oh and Froyo is on the Horizon – He makes his way to Mord-or.

EMP me, baby

I remember the EMP bomb in the Matrix movie, where the crew of the Nebuchadnezzar were saved from the attack of the sentinels by setting off a bomb which killed off (or temporarily suspended service) everything electronic and saved Neo and Trinity. An Electro-Magnetic Pulse bomb is suppose to theoretically suppose to do the following;

“”In less than a billionth of a second, the electrical intensity on Earth’s surface would become so hot that microchips would fry, power lines would overload and the electric grid would collapse,” says National Geographic, describing . “Everything with microelectronics in it would stop: your car, your computer, the subway. There would be no electricity.”

Heres an  interesting video on the effects of an EMP bomb – check it, before you wreck it…bzzzzzzt

Still no Palm Pre, and in the meantime, the Apple Iphone 4…

Jobs is at it again. The Iphone 4 has been launched – with July as the target date for most countries (Singapore tbc)

Apple managed to make the battery slightly larger, and the new handset is rated at 7 hours of 3G talk, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of WiFi browsing, 10 hours of video, and 40 hours of music..let the madness begin.

btw, still no sight or a sniff of the Palm Pre. In the meantime, I must agree that I am liking the recent stylings of the HTC….

ps – spoke to a person who previously kept well away from the iphone – being an against the trend type of person. They played with the iPad and fell in love with it. Curses!

Like I said, ..let the madness begin.
